Manchester Urban Sketchers Symposium Videos [Episode 1]!!!!

Here it is!! The first episode of my series about the USK Symposium!! 😀

I am so happy to share with you, through these videos, this sketching adventure, these amazing memories, these unforgettable meetings and all the inspiration that goes with it!! ☺️

In this series of videos, I alternate a leaf through of my sketchbook and me telling you how was the Symposium, with some shots of the sketchers sketching 😉 (and you can actually watch each of them sketching for a little while) plus some shots of the sketching atmosphere in Manchester.

My guest stars, for this video, are Marion Rivolier, Marc Taro Holmes, Marina Grechanik, Mario Linares, Liz Steel, Suhita Shirodkar, Jessie Chapma, Robin Bauer and Swasky. Thanks to them for the “short demos” !! 😝

I really hope you will enjoy watching this first video. I don’t know yet how many of them I will offer! 😉
This one is about the first sketchcrawl afternoon, my first early bird sketching session with some of the instructors, the next day, and my first workshop, with Marion Rivolier, during this same morning.

Feel free to subscribe to my YouTube channel to follow all my videos! 😊

Thanks for watching and have a good sketching week end! 😙

  1. Thankyou so much for this was so helpful to get a glimpse of the way the artists work…..even down to the way they hold their tools. I love your work…..

  2. Thanks for this Anne-Laure! I did not go to the symposium so this is a great way to get the flavor of it. Merci!

  3. Bonjour Anne-Laure,

Merci beaucoup pour votre video. I enjoyed watching your video very much – and in particular I loved seeing your sketchbook, I took so much inspiration from it and the way you work. I just love watching how different and diverse all sketchers are – I feel I know so many of them, as I subscribe to their blogs and watching this video gave me a real sense of what if felt like to be there in Manchester all the way from my very HOT home in Brisbane, Australia… I’m looking forward to seeing the next episode very much.

  4. Great video! Thank you so much for posting and sharing your experience. This is great for some of us who are unable to attend a symposium. It really gives an insight into what it must be like.

  5. Wow…loved your video and especially enjoyed watching the workshop you had with Marion Rivolier regarding color and shapes. Your sketch in her workshop was excellent, and I learned a lot from watching other artists. Thanks so much for the great video!

  6. Thank you so much for putting this together – I’m new to Urban Sketchers but this video makes me want to go to the Symposium next year! And your sketchbook is so charming with the different papers bound together and notes and cards added. Tres jolie – merci beaucoup!

  7. Thank you so much to all of you for these adorable comments!! I am so happy to be able to share these creative techniques and creative thinking with you through this video!

I think, too, that it’s really interesting just to watch some artists sketch and paint, to watch how they hold their tools, which order they choose to sketch their subject, how they handle their gear… So fascinating!!

I am glad you liked my sketchbook and my sketches too, thank you.

  8. Though not in order, I have watched and so much enjoyed your videos. They are just a delight and I plan to watch again and take some notes from your terrific instructions.

Thank you for such informative and accomplished work. I’m very grateful.
